Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Mike McClure, Matt Severance and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the best plays for the NFL preseason and Major League Baseball for Thursday, August 12.

The crew shares how much they are looking forward to Thursday's "Field of Dreams" game between the Yankees and White Sox at 7:15 p.m. ET. Mike notes how the conditions may compare to ballparks in Atlanta and St. Louis. Matt looks at preseason NFL win totals and how they figure into regular season and playoff futures.

The Coach provides the SportsLine Play of the Day from the site models and experts. He is endorsing the Braves -140 over the Reds at 5:10 p.m. ET. Atlanta has won seven of eight and will keep rolling.

Mike is taking the Over in White-Sox-Yankees. He is picking on Andrew Heaney, who is prone to giving up the long ball, and does not handle lefties well. Lance Lynn will not fare as well as usual against the Yankees' left-handed hitters and power bats in this matchup.

Matt is going with the White Sox -160 over the Yankees, as he is also targeting Heaney to have a rough night. He says it is a pitching mismatch and confirms that Chicago crushes left-handed pitching. Matt's highlighted NFL preseason pick is Washington -2 over New England at 7:30 p.m. ET.  "This reminds me of last week's game," he says, drawing parallels from the Hall of Fame Game. "The Steelers had three pretty legitimate quarterbacks playing and the Cowboys had basically none. Ron Rivera is one of those old school coaches who wants to win. Ryan Fitzpatrick, the starter, is going to play about a quarter. And Washington still has Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen, two pretty good quarterbacks." Matt says the New England QB picture is very shaky after Cam Newton and falls far short in comparison.

Larry continues to ride with any team that hosts Colorado and is all in on the Giants -1.5 over the Rockies at 9:45 p.m. ET. The pitching matchup heavily favors San Francisco, another major reason to jump on the pick.
