Unless Michigan has been purposefully keeping its offensive playbook closed ahead of conference play, this Wolverines team simply does not seem to have the pieces to attack this Wisconsin defense. Forgetting the Badgers' gaudy score totals this season, their offense has been balanced, and they feature one of the best running backs in the nation. Even if Michigan shows some new wrinkles early, Wisconsin should be able to figure those out in the second half. Look for another 100-plus yard effort from Jonathan Taylor and a victory for UW.
Michigan has somehow become The Underdog Nobody Wants, at least for Saturday's early slate and yet... the number hasn't moved. The public remembers how the Wolverines struggled with Army while Wisconsin is shutting out opponents by gaudy scores. But this could end up being Jim Harbaugh's most crucial game with the Wolverines, and his team has the talent edge. the whole world seems to believe Wisconsin rolls, but look for Michigan to keep it close.
Michigan got lucky to win a struggle with Army two weeks ago while Wisconsin has yet to allow a point in two games. Michigan has failed to cover a spread in its last six games, which includes an embarrassing bowl loss to Florida and another beatdown from Ohio State. Michigan has only covered twice in its last 12 meetings with Wisconsin. The Badgers have it together better at this moment. I’m on Wisconsin.
It's going to be a windy afternoon in Madison on Saturday, and when the winds are blowing, I love to be on the Under. Plus, both of the defenses in this meeting are further along than the offenses, and I expect Michigan to be a bit more conservative offensively in their first road game of the year.
The Wolverines have looked woeful on offense, can't hold on to the football and have a quarterback in Shea Patterson who is nothing more than average. And they're going to compete with a Wisconsin defense that hasn't allowed a point all season? Nope. Running back Jonathan Taylor will have a big day for the Badgers, who will win this one by double-digits.
Plus-110. That is the points differential this season for Wisconsin after two -- two! -- games, both shutouts. Neither opponent (USF, Central Michigan) is from the FCS level, either. The Badgers are coming off a bye, a scenario in which they have covered 10 of the past 13 times, and are riding a 5-0 ATS wave overall. The public blindly backs Michigan, especially with the narrower lines on road games, which explains the Wolverines' recent 1-6 ATS away skid. The Badgers' offense appears more balanced, so superb RB Jonathan Taylor might carry a lesser load. Not that he needs to, having gained 233 rushing yards in the past two matchups with Michigan.
