Home court means something in the Mountain West as San Diego State well knows, as all five of the Aztecs' losses have come away from Viejas Arena. Now in Reno tonight, which for obvious reasons could be a problem. Moreover, the Wolf Pack are suddenly looking very dangerous, having recently taken down Colorado State at home and won convincingly at Utah by near-identical scores (770-64 and 77-63). Nick Davidson's 25 points vs. the Utags, on the heels of 22 poijnts vs. San Jose State, suggests that Steve Alford might finally have found that third scoring option in support of Gs Jarod Lucas (17 ppg) and Kenan Blackshear (15.7 ppg). Play Nevada
San Diego State is 2-7 ATS on the road this season while the Wolfpack are 11-0 SU at home. Nevada has the better home/road splits out of these two teams and their defense has been holding their opponents to less than 62 points per contest at home. The Aztecs got a win on the road in their last game but that was to a lesser opponent, Air Force. They may the better defense on paper but it’s very difficult to go on the road and win in the Mountain West to a team with a clear home court advantage.
CBS Sports Network game on a very strangely quiet Friday -- they are always quiet but we usually got a decent menu of mid-majors (MAAC especially). Just three games tonight and I'm not really sure why. This is purely a home-court play as the Wolf Pack lost by 12 at SDSU a few weeks ago. Coach Steve Alford's club did play great Tuesday in an upset win at Utah State, though, and has just one home loss this season. San Diego State is 2-3 in league road games and the wins were at bottom-feeders San Jose State and Air Force.
