New Jersey online casinos started 2026 the same way they ended the past calendar year: in record-breaking fashion. With $258.9 million in revenue, NJ online casinos set an all-time record for January as they begin their quest toward the industry's first-ever $3 billion year.

NJ online casinos off to strong start toward first $3 billion year

After overtaking land-based casinos as the majority revenue-generator for legal gambling in the state a year ago, NJ online casinos continued their tear into the new year with nearly $259 million in January to set a record for most revenue in the first month of the calendar. That total represented more than 44% of all gaming revenue in the Garden State.

The growth of real money online casino apps in New Jersey continues to stagger, even nearly 13 years later. In 2023, the industry reported a then-record $152.9 million, and a decade ago, NJ online casinos posted a then-pleasing total of $14.6 million.

In a statement, Jane Bokunewicz – faculty director and professor of hospitality, tourism and event management studies at Stockton University in New Jersey – noted that internet gaming in the Garden State "becomes more important than ever as a revenue stream" in the state as it more frequently surpasses brick-and-mortar gaming revenue. She added that it appears as if much of the benefit of NJ online casinos is experienced outside of Atlantic City.

It's certainly a strong start to 2026 after iGaming in New Jersey wrapped up 2025 with over $2.9 billion in revenue for the year, which set a state record. That year began with a $221.6 million January, 16.8% less than the total NJ online casinos posted last month. Seemingly, then, the industry could be on its way to the first $3 billion year in New Jersey online casino history.

FanDuel, DraftKings continue to pace NJ online casinos

As has long been the norm, the same two platforms led the way in January, with FanDuel – bolstered by its FanDuel Casino promo code – leading the pack at $58.9 million.

Not far behind was DraftKings, fueled by the DraftKings Casino bonus, with $48.6 million. Finally, the BetMGM Casino app rounded out the top three with $33.8 million.

Those three operators accounted for over 54% of the market that featured 25 casino apps in January. Add in Borgata and Caesars Palace Online Casino, and the top five platforms generated almost 70% of the entire month's revenue.

The NJ online casino industry is no doubt top-heavy, but growth still occurred across the landscape. Of the 24 casino apps that were operational at this time last year, 16 saw year-over-year increases in revenue for January.
