Though down slightly from August's $248.4 million in revenue, New Jersey's online casinos generated $243.1 million in September 2025, up nearly 17% from last year. September's total was the fourth highest in the state's history and continues a strong trend of $240 million or more in revenue in four of the last five months. Atlantic City Casino Revenue Declines but Stays Strong
With the summer tourism season over, Atlantic City casinos' revenue fell nearly 27% compared to August's $312 million. The caveat is that August's total was the first time in more than 12 years that casino revenue topped $300 million in New Jersey's gambling hotspot. At $230.7 million in revenue generated in September, this was the first month since April that in-person casinos fell behind online casinos in the state. Overall, the Atlantic City casino scene is thriving, with the June through August total of $855 million in revenue up nearly six percent vs. 2024 and the best summer in over a decade.
Atlantic City casinos saw $170 million in revenue from slot machines and nearly $61 million from table games. For the year, casinos are up more than $1.6 billion on slots and $578 million from table games. Overall brick-and-mortar casino revenue is at $2.2 billion through the first nine months of 2025, up more than $53 million from 2024 (2.5%).
Borgata Leads the Way Among Atlantic City Casinos
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa continued to lead the way generating nearly $490 million in slot machine handle and $118 million in table and other games handle. For the month, Borgata had more than $45 million in slot revenue and nearly $16 million from table games and poker. Their overall revenue of nearly $63 million was nearly $18 million more than their nearest competitor, Hard Rock Atlantic City.
For the year, the Borgata has generated approximately $600 million in revenue, more than 70% of which came from slot machines. Despite the casino's success, the hold percentage in September was slightly lower than the other eight Atlantic City casinos at 9.3% for slot machines and 13.5% for table and other games.
Hard Rock is a solid second in revenue generated thus far in 2025 with $422 million followed by Ocean Casino at $353M. Those three are well above Harrah's ($173M), Tropicana ($169M), and Caesars ($159M). Resorts ($123M), Golden Nugget ($104M), and Bally's ($102M) round out the yearly revenue generated by the nine Atlantic City casinos this year.
