Updated Heisman Trophy odds: Trevor Lawrence no longer among favorites

Preseason favorites to win the Heisman Trophy rarely take home college football's biggest award. And it looks as if that trend will continue in 2019. Clemson sophomore quarterback Trevor Lawrence had been the favorite but is now +5000 on the FanDuel NCAA football odds to become the first player from his school to win the Heisman.
The Tigers were very fortunate to escape Saturday's game at North Carolina, 21-20. Clemson was a 27.5-point favorite. Heels coach Mack Brown, clearly trying to make a statement with his program, tried a 2-point conversion in the final minute but it was snuffed out. Lawrence threw for 206 yards and a touchdown while rushing for a score. Clemson is off this week.

Entering Week 5, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagoaviloa was the +300 Heisman favorite and he still is … but is joined at that price by the guy he used to back up, Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts. Tua was 26-for-36 for 418 yards and six touchdowns in a 59-31 win over Ole Miss on Saturday, also rushing for a touchdown. Those seven touchdowns tied an SEC record, and Tua is now first in Tide history with 84 career total touchdowns. Yep, for Miami Dolphins fans that draft can't get here soon enough. Alabama is off this week.
Hurts was 17-for-24 for 415 yards and three scores in a win over Texas Tech. He also rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown. It was his fourth game this season with a passer efficiency rating of 245.0 or better. No other FBS player since at least 1996 has recorded more than two games of an efficiency rating of 245.0-plus in a season. OU is a 35-point favorite on the college football odds at Kansas this Saturday.
