2021 NFL MVP odds: Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford now favorites with Cardinals vs. Rams clash on tap Week 4

There's a new betting favorite at Caesars Sportsbook to win NFL MVP.

No player from the Arizona Cardinals has ever won the NFL MVP Award, but Cards quarterback Kyler Murray is the new +600 betting favorite at Caesars Sportsbook to take home the honor this season. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford also had a big jump on the odds this week, now a +650 second favorite along with Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Cardinals visit the Rams in one of the marquee Week 4 games.

Murray has led the Cardinals to their first 3-0 start since 2015, the last time they made the playoffs. The former Heisman Trophy winner was 28-for-34 for 316 yards with a pick and a rushing touchdown in Sunday's comeback win over Jacksonville.

Murray has now rushed for a touchdown in each of his team's first three games for the second season in a row. The only other QBs with a rushing touchdown in each of their team's first three games of a season since 1970 are Terry Bradshaw (1972) and Charlie Frye (2006). Can't say I expected to be mentioning Charlie Frye today when I woke up.

Stafford also has the Rams off to a 3-0 start as they knocked off the Bucs on Sunday. Stafford, like Murray a former No. 1 overall pick, had four touchdown passes. He already has three passing scores of at least 50 yards this season. That's as many as the Rams had the previous two years combined under Jared Goff. Stafford's nine TD passes are tied with Kurt Warner (1999) for the most in Rams history through three games.

Mahomes' Chiefs are a shocking 1-2 following Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Chargers – remember, entering Week 2 Mahomes had never lost a September game or thrown a pick in that month. Now he has two such losses and three interceptions after the Chargers picked him twice.

The MVP favorites are rounded out by the Bucs' Tom Brady (+750), who has a bit of a big game this Sunday at New England, Buffalo's Josh Allen (+1000) and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers (+1000). Brady leads the NFL with 10 TD passes but managed just one in the loss to the Rams. He's second to Derek Carr in passing yards with 1,087.

Allen had a five-TD day (four passing, one rushing) in Sunday's win over Washington. He became the fourth player in NFL history to record multiple career games with at least 300 passing yards, four touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown. The others: Drew Brees (four), Rodgers (four) and Peyton Manning (two). Rodgers led a last-second victory in San Francisco on Sunday night.

The non-quarterback with the shortest odds is Titans running back Derrick Henry at +5000.
