The U.S. Senate race in Maine is set for November 3. Susan Collins (R) is seeking a sixth term against Troy Jackson (D), a first-time Senate candidate. Susan Collins (R): First elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996, Collins began representing Maine in 1997 and has been reelected in every cycle since, including a fifth term in 2020. She chaired the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs from 2003 to 2007 and the Senate Special Committee on Aging from 2015 to 2021. She joined the Appropriations Committee in 2009 and now chairs it, the first Republican woman to hold that position. Troy Jackson (D): A fifth-generation logger from Allagash, Jackson was elected to the Maine House of Representatives, serving three terms before winning election to the Maine Senate in 2008. He served as president of the Maine Senate from 2018 to 2024 after Democrats won the chamber majority in 2018.
