We're going to count on the Dallas resilience to get the Stars back on track. It's becoming obvious that the matchup vs. Vegas is not a good one for Dallas after VGK's most-recent domination by a 6-1 count on Saturday in Big D. It's been a demanding stretch of games lately for Dallas including back-to-backs vs. the Lightning, but the offense has been producing goals vs. all foes saves Vegas. Tonight Dallas tries to solve James Reimer and his 2.18 GAA in the nets for Detroit, but he's only had a handful of starts this season, and the Wings flew into DFW at low altitude after bad losses at home to the Sharks and Sens. Play Stars on Puck Line
We have a rare over/under set at 6, and it's a game that looks just tremendous for scoring. First, there's a simple look at both teams's recent trends. Dallas is scoring 3.9 goals and allowing 4.0 goals/game at home over the last month, while Detroit is scoring 4.2 and allowing 3.4 goals/game on the road in the same span. That alone makes the over look tantalizing. Three of the past four meetings have finished with 7+ goals, and tonight's net-minders push this pick over the edge. Dallas will have Jake Oettinger in net, who has allowed 15 goals over his last three starts, all losses. James Reimer is starting for Detroit. He's started just twice over the last month, letting up eight goals. Grab this over.
Half unit as the Wings are down a few key forwards due to injury and giving James Reimer his first start in net since Nov. 16 -- he did come on in relief last time out. Reimer has not been bad, so I'm not sure why Detroit hasn't been playing him. Jake Oettinger is my guy for the Stars but in a bit of a slump or I'd take Under 6.5 goals. Stars third-leading scorer Roope Hintz will play after missing Saturday.
