The issues in Arizona have quickly turned in a matter of a couple of seasons. Look for the deeper and more talented Rams to continue to be the new favorite that oddsmakers can’t pinpoint the number. Grab the Rams.
No team at this early stage of the season should be receiving nearly two touchdowns -- unless, perhaps, that team is named Buffalo. Much of the nation was asleep and missed L.A.’s win over Oakland on Monday that was less impressive than the score suggests. Arizona did get manhandled by Washington but figures to improve. Do-it-all RB David Johnson (back) is expected to play. The Cardinals have covered lately in their first road game of the season and against an opponent coming off a Monday nighter.
This line opened a couple points north of where it was on the lookahead number, and that's understandable after the Cardinals looked awful and the Rams looked like Super Bowl favorites in Week 1. But I don't think the Cards are quite as bad as they showed in Week 1, and even so, this is a ton of points for a divisional matchup. The Rams did give up nearly 400 yards in their opener and didn't look dangerous defensively on the second level.
It's a big number but the Rams are the best team in the NFC. They got off to a slow start against the Raiders purely because Jared Goff hadn't played in the preseason. Once they got going, they were fine. Arizona's QB situation is terrible. The Cardinals aren't going to have any answers.
