Portland will be down two starters for Monday afternoon's game vs. San Antonio.

Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday in the United States and one of the NBA's marquee days of the regular season. Thus, there are a handful of matinees, including San Antonio at Portland with a 3 p.m. ET tip. The Blazers are 1.5-point underdogs on the William Hill Sportsbook NBA odds because they will be without starters CJ McCollum and Jusuf Nurkic.

McCollum left Saturday's 112-106 win over Atlanta with a sprained left foot and could be out longer than one game. McCollum is having his best season, averaging 26.7 points (eighth in NBA) and 5.0 assists – he has a better player efficiency rating (26.09) than more heralded backcourt mate Damian Lillard (24.23). It's not clear who will start in McCollum's place, but it should be one of Gary Trent Jr., Rodney Hood or Anfernee Simons. Simons started the second half Saturday.

Last season, Portland won two of three vs. San Antonio and McCollum averaged 26.0 points and 6.0 assists in them. Lillard averaged 25.3 points, 7.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds. Lillard has 1,825 career made three-pointers and is three from passing Kobe Bryant for 17th most in NBA history. Lillard is fifth among active players.

It's essentially just a reminder on Nurkic, as he fractured his right wrist Thursday against Indiana. The 7-footer was averaging 9.8 points and 7.7 rebounds this season. That injury leaves Portland short in the frontcourt as the team already was without forward/center Zach Collins indefinitely after ankle surgery at the end of December.

San Antonio doesn't list any key players as out for Monday other than Derrick White, but he has played just one game this season with a toe fracture and won't be back for at least a month. The Spurs have dropped their past four in Portland (0-3-1 against the spread). They are 7-0 ATS in their past seven as road dogs, however.
