Understanding Public and Money
So why again are the A's being made an underdog in Cincinnati? Last night's 5-4 win simply followed a pattern that has lasted over six weeks as Oakland has rolled to a 21-14 mark since just in front of the All-Star break. An extra bonus tonight as ex-Pirate and Wednesday starter Osvaldo Bido rates as maybe the AL's hottest pitchers this month, certainly across his last three starts when allowing only one run and five hits across 17 IP, with 17 Ks and just 6 walks, with the A's winning each. Meanwhile David Bell has limited options on the mound for the lackluster Reds, with reliever Fernando Cruz a dubious opener thanks to his dreadful 7.71 ERA in August. Play A's on Money Line
I'm taking Under 10.5 in any game not in Denver unless there are Tropical Storm-force winds blowing out (something that happens around 3 p.m. ET daily in the summer here in Florida) and that's not the case in Cincinnati tonight. Slightly out but nothing crazy, and it might rain so this may void regardless. A's starter Osvaldo Bido has been terrific with a 1.17 ERA over his past four. That certainly is not him overall but we'll keep riding for now. The Reds will use a bullpen day, which I generally prefer for an Under play as batters can't get a bead on a single pitcher -- although that same bullpen cost us a win last night. I believe this should be set at 9.5.
