Toronto goes for the sweep San Diego today and has won six of the last seven games. San Diego has lost three in a row. We get Chris Bassitt on the mound where he's won two straight and then in both he allowed one run. He's dialed in. As opposed to Joe Musgrove who looks scattered all over the place. I'm on the Blue Jays to win and complete the sweep this week.
Check out the HR write up to see the splits. Great match up for Turner and if he doesn't go yard there is every reason to think he gets an extra base hit or a few knock against Musgrove and some bullpen arms he is very familiar with from his time in the NL West. He has 7 driven in the last 7 games after a slot start to his time with the Blue Jays
Justin Turner did significant damage as a Dodger and he did a lot of it against the Padres and he owns this starter in particular. Joe Musgrove has issues with JT in the box. He is 6/14 off him, and half of those hits are HRs. Musgrove is having his worst start to the season in years and hasn't seemed totally right since the opening series in Korea against Turner's old team.
Joe Musgrove has been one of my favorite starting pitchers to fade this season and he's certainly struggled out the gate. He gets a real difficult matchup against a Blue Jays that possesses the 4th lowest K rate in the league. I expect this number to settle at 4.5 and Musgrove has no business being 5.5 in his current form, particularly against a stingy opponent like Toronto.
