I see lots of us have found this, but as a Red Sox fan you know I’m eyeballing Sale. Not the results but the pitches. I will fade his outs every time he is coming off a start with extra pitches as I think they will be cautious with him. Under.
Propstarz and I have been talking about this one all morning, and we've decided to go for it! Chris Sale has pitched into the 6th inning in all three starts and last time out, he threw 100+ pitches en route to seven full innings. But, digging deeper makes me believe that start was an anomaly. Atlanta was down 5-0 and Sale's pitch count was 78 heading into the 6th, so there was no reason to use the bullpen. After needing only six pitches that inning, he was allowed to return for the 7th, despite not performing all that well. With an off day yesterday, the bullpen should be rested and Texas is due for positive regression vs lefties. Played at +100 on MGM, shop around!!!
This is a big number for Chris Sale who is coming off the most pitches hes thrown since May of last season. He's facing a Rangers lineup that last year finished with the 4th highest OPS against opposing southpaws but have really been underachieving so far this season. I view Texas as a positive regression candidate and as a result think Sale doesn't go 6 tonight.
