The Rangers are back to full strength after the returns of Adolis Garcia and Josh Jung. They've crushed the ball at home this season, too, slashing .273/.346/.490 as a team in Globe Life Field. I believe they'll score plenty of runs tonight even against Red Sox starter Tanner Houck, who is going well right now. I do not, however, think the Rangers can hold down the Red Sox offense with Nathan Eovaldi and the sub-par bullpen. Eovaldi hasn't worked more than 3 1/3 innings yet since his return from the injured list and he's looked bad in doing so. The Rangers have had a terrible bullpen in the last month, too. We only need a 5-4 game to hit the over here. We will.
It has been all or nothing for the Rangers lately. During a six-game winning streak, they averaged 7.8 runs per game. They have since lost four straight, averaging 2.0 runs during that span. This is a favorable spot for them to get back on track with Tanner Houck pitching for the Red Sox. Over his last five starts, he has a 1.54 WHIP. Nathan Eovaldi will start for the Rangers, but he is still building up his pitch count after coming back from injury. That means we could get more innings from a group of relievers that has the fifth-highest bullpen ERA in baseball. Look for both teams to score enough to push this total past the over.
Playing this ahead of tonight's game -- surprised Texas is only -138 at FanDuel for Tuesday after getting All-Stars Josh Jung and Adolis Garcia off the IL Monday and with Nathan Eovaldi on the hill Tuesday (although he's still building up arm strength) The Sox are going through the motions at this point.
