This is a rematch from six days ago when Dustin May and the Dodgers beat Blake Snell and the Padres. It's very difficult for a starting pitcher to defeat the same team twice in less than a week. The Dodgers are batting .201 against left-handed starters. Lets take the road underdog in this big-time rivalry game.
Have to say I like a lot of games today. Per my horoscope (no I don't usually check or care): "A windfall of fortune may blow in Scorpios direction today, enabling them to make major moves in their finances." So obviously I'm going unbeaten. Bahamas beach house on deck! (Not telling wife, but I'll bring Snoopy.) The Dodgers have activated JD Martinez off the injured list. He has been out since April 23. LA was also off Thursday, while the Padres lost for the fourth time in five games and traveled from Minnesota. Friars lefty Blake Snell (1-5, 4.89) is capable of a dominant outing, but at this point those are becoming fewer and fewer for the former Cy Young winner, especially on the road, where he's 0-2 with a 5.93 ERA. LA's Dustin May (4-1, 2.68 ERA) blanked the Padres over six at Petco last Saturday. Snell did pitch well that day, too, but obviously at home where his numbers are far better.
