There are so many things that go into identifying strong plays at wide receiver on a weekly basis for NFL DFS. Examining game scripts, projecting volume, and weighing the matchup are some of the most common factors, but that is just the beginning. Breaking down a matchup on a macro level often isn't enough. Some of the league's worst pass defenses still have an excellent cornerback on the roster, while other perceived tough matchups have individual corners that you can pick on.

In DFS, being able to identify when a receiver is in a particularly advantageous matchup can make the difference in taking down tournaments or going home with nothing.

In 2018, few were better at identifying advantageous matchups for receivers than DFS pro Jacob Gibbs. His WR draft rankings finished 22nd among 154 analysts in FantasyPros' Expert Accuracy Contest, while his in-season WR rankings were 23rd of 125. Through the first eight weeks of the 2018 season, no expert ranked the WR position more accurately than Gibbs did.

Last week's matchup column featured Kenny Golladay's monster performance, while also helping avoid some of the biggest DFS landmines. Over the past three weeks, the receivers featured as the 'avoid at all costs' player combined for 7.1 DK points, which is incredible when you consider that those receivers averaged a combined 74.4 in the weeks prior.

Before you set your DFS lineups or pick which WR to start this week in your Fantasy leagues, you'll want to see Gibbs' analysis and breakdown of which WR vs. CB matchups to target and avoid in Week 5.

One thing we can tell you: Gibbs loves the matchup for Atlanta receiver Julio Jones, who he expects to go overlooked in Week 5.

"Unlike Week 4, we have five elite RB to pay up for on this slate. Specifically, David Johnson and Dalvin Cook are in awesome spots and should be popular. If paying up at WR, people are likely to focus on Chris Godwin before considering Jones." Gibbs said. "So, we should get Julio at around five percent ownership against a Texans secondary that has been gouged by opposing wideouts. No NFL corner has been targeted more often (38 targets through four games) than the 35 year old Johnathan Joseph. He hasn't even been Houston's worst corner, though. Aaron Colvin was so bad in Week 1 that the Texans cut him after the game, which forced rookie Lonnie Johnson Jr. to step into a starting role. Pro Football Focus has Johnson graded as the fifth-worst cover corner among 106 qualified cornerbacks. These two will attempt to slow down Julio Jones."

Gibbs also has identified a wide receiver who has a huge speed advantage over his opponent in Week 5. This wideout is facing a team that has some of the slowest perimeter corners in the league, and he has slate-breaking potential in this spot. You ABSOLUTELY need to see the complete breakdown.
