Updated Odds on Lane Kiffin Coaching at Florida Atlantic Through 2026

Lane Kiffin's reward for whupping Akron in the Boca Raton Bowl Tuesday night was a long-term extension to be Florida Atlantic's head coach for the next decade.

Kiffin, who had formerly helmed Tennessee and USC, was a surprise hire for the Conference USA school that hadn't been invited to a bowl game since 2008. But the excitement among Owls fans -- and a sudden national presence -- has thrust Florida Atlantic into the spotlight.

Online betting site BookMaker.eu has set a prop bet on Kiffin's long-term future.

Placing a bet on NO seems to be the obvious choice, but the meager payoff for such a rich commitment is surely not worth the risk.

While Kiffin said all the right things after inking his new deal, it's hard to imagine him not pining for greener pastures sometime soon. He's currently earning $950,000 a year and that will likely rise. But it's still just a fraction of what big-name coaches like Nick Saban and Jim Harbaugh haul in. 

Returning to the Owls next season are junior quarterback Jason Driskel and sophomore running back Devin "Motor" Singletary. The Owls finished 11-3 -- the most wins in school history -- after dismantling the Akron Zips, 50-3. Florida Atlantic outgained Akron, 595-114.
