Twins vs. Red Sox odds, lines: Advanced computer model reveals picks for April 20, 2023, matchup

SportsLine's Projection Model has generated picks for Thursday's American League matchup between the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox

By@SportsLineUpdated: Apr 20, 2023 4:52PM UTC . 3 min read

The Boston Red Sox will look to get back to .500 on the season when they battle the Minnesota Twins in the third and final game of their series on Thursday. The teams have split the first two games, after Minnesota ended its three-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 10-4 victory. The Twins (11-7), who placed third in the American League Central a year ago, have the early lead in the division this year. The Red Sox (9-10), fifth in the AL East, have won two of the last three meetings with Minnesota.

The game is slated to begin at 1:35 p.m. ET from Fenway Park in Boston. The Red Sox are the -125 favorites on the money line (risk $125 to win $100) in the latest Twins vs. Red Sox odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total runs scored is 9 (see the latest lines for every game on our MLB odds page).

Before making any Twins vs. Red Sox picks, you NEED to see the latest MLB predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

This model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times. It went 331-285 on top-rated MLB money-line picks (+357) over the past two seasons, and it finished the 2022 MLB season on a 20-14 roll. Anybody who has followed it has seen profitable returns!

The model knows right fielder Alex Verdugo is off to a solid start to the season. Entering play on Wednesday, he was hitting .348 with one homer, seven RBI and 14 runs scored. In Tuesday's series opener, he was 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI. He has seven multi-hit games on the year, including a 3-for-5 performance in a 7-6 loss to Pittsburgh on April 3.

The model also knows Minnesota left fielder Trevor Larnach has displayed some pop. He is hitting .242, but has four multi-hit games with two homers, 13 RBI and eight runs scored. In six career games against Boston, he has two doubles, one homer and six RBI. In an 11-1 win at Miami on April 3, Larnach was 2-for-5 with a triple, home run and three RBI.

Now, it has set its sights on Twins vs. Red Sox. We can tell you the model is leaning Over on the total, projecting 9.3 combined runs, and it also says one side of the money line has ALL the value! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any MLB picks of your own.
