Top 5 Fantasy Football Breakout Candidates for 2020

SportsLine expert Jacob Gibbs nailed Dalvin Cook and Chris Godwin as 2019 breakouts. Cook was drafted as the RB8 on average, but finished as Fantasy's RB2. Godwin was drafted as the WR17 but finished as the WR2.

Sometimes, an impending breakout comes down to staying healthy -- as we saw with Cook last year. Other times, it has to do with coaching changes, depth chart shake-ups, or a player taking the next step in his development -- all of which came together for Godwin in 2019.

Now, Gibbs has identified five players on the precipice of major 2020 breakouts. We can tell you Gibbs is all over Calvin Ridley to seriously outperform his ADP. "Calvin Ridley was the WR22 in 2018 as a rookie. Last year, he was the WR14 prior to suffering a season-ending injury in Week 14. Yet, as the former first round pick enters his third season, he is somehow going off the board as just the WR17 in Fantasy drafts," Gibbs said.

"Even if you don't expect continued progression from Ridley, there is more opportunity available in 2020 than ever before in his career."

Gibbs loves four other breakouts who, like Ridley, aren't going in the first three rounds of Fantasy drafts. So they'll return serious value if they explode the way Gibbs envisions.
