Today's top picks: Why the Royals will beat the Tigers and more MLB, NHL and golf expert bets for Saturday, April 24

Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure and Zack Cimini on the Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball, the NHL and golf for Saturday, April 24.

Coach starts things off with two SportsLine Plays of the Day, both in the NHL. The first is the Hurricanes and Panthers game to go Over 5.5 goals (7 p.m. ET). "This hits in our simulations over 61 percent of the time," Coach says. "The Over is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams in Florida." The second Play of the Day is the Capitals (+115) over the Islanders (7 p.m. ET). 

The red-hot McClure -- who is on a mind-bending streak, winning with 14 straight picks on the Early Edge podcast -- has only one play on Saturday: the Royals (-110) over the Tigers and starter Matthew Boyd (1:10 p.m. ET). "[Boyd] is going to have to work in his slider a lot more against this Royals lineup because the fastball and the changeup are two pitches this lineup hits very well, especially against lefthanded pitching at the top [of the lineup]," McClure says.

Coach then chips in with his own pick, from the PGA Tour's team event, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith (-137) over Jason Kokrak and Pat Perez (12:06 p.m. ET). "[Leishman and Smith] played very well the first couple of days, and I think they'll play very well again today," he says.

Cimini's first pick comes in the MLB: the Marlins (+135) over the Giants (9:05 p.m. ET). "[Pablo Lopez] faced the Giants last Sunday [and] was unfortunate," Cimini says. "They lost 1-0, but he threw nine strikeouts [and] was very effective."

He also likes the Dodgers (-140) over the Padres (9:10 p.m. ET). "[Trevor Bauer] pitched six strong innings last Sunday," Cimini says. "The bullpen let him down in that one."
