Today's top picks: Why the Chargers will cover against the Vikings and more NFL expert bets for Sunday, Nov. 14
The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Sunday, Nov. 14, on The Early Edge podcast
Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure, Allan Bell and Larry Hartstein on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for the NFL for Sunday, Nov. 14.
McClure starts things off with the Steelers (-5) to cover against the Lions (1 p.m. ET). "Mason Rudolph has been preparing for this all week," Mike says. "The drop-off is not that big at this point in (Ben Roethlisberger's) career. I like that (Rudolph's) got some chemistry with wide receiver James Washington, who he played with in college."
Bell is up next with his play: the Chargers (-3) to cover against the Vikings (4:05 p.m. ET). "(The Chargers) are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12. The Vikings are 0-5 straight up this season versus teams with a winning record," Allan says. "(Minnesota is missing five players that) are 49.2 percent of their entire defensive salary cap this season."
Hartstein wraps things up with three prop bets. The first is Over 2.5 passing touchdowns for Los Angeles' Justin Herbert in the Vikings-Chargers game. "(Minnesota's) defense was on the field for 90 plays in an overtime loss last week," Larry says. "(Herbert) had a stretch earlier this season where he had three or more (TD passes) in three straight games. He's had nine TDs in his last three home games."
His next play is Over 36.5 pass attempts for Washington's Taylor Heinicke in the Tampa Bay-Washington contest (1 p.m. ET). "You don't run against (the Buccaneers)," Hartstein says. "Tampa Bay opponents (are) passing at the highest rate in the league. Every single QB who has faced Tampa is going over their normal pass-attempt rate because of that Bucs defense."
Larry's final play is Over 14.5 receiving yards for Cleveland's D'Ernest Johnson in the Browns-Patriots game (1 p.m. ET). "In the one game he was the showcase against Denver, he had two catches for 22 yards. He also had a game with three targets," he says. "The Patriots are susceptible to running backs - second-highest target share allowed to opposing running backs. It'll probably just take two catches to get there, maybe even one if we get lucky."
