Today's top picks: Why the Bears will cover against the Cardinals and more NFL and college basketball expert bets for Sunday, Dec. 5

Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure and Allan Bell on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for the NFL and college basketball for Sunday, Dec. 5.

Coach starts things off with a pair of SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first, courtesy of Justin Perri, is in college basketball: Minnesota (+10.5) to cover against Mississippi State (2 p.m. ET). "This seems too good to be true," he says. "Minnesota is undefeated, they should put up a good fight. Mississippi State, yeah, they've gotten off to a decent start. They're solid, but not 10.5 points solid."

The second is in the NFL, courtesy of R.J. White: The Bears (+7.5) to cover against the Cardinals (1 p.m. ET). "Gonna have bad weather, gonna have some rain issues, maybe a little bit of sleet," Coach says. "That means low-scoring, that means bring the spread together."

McClure follows with a play in college basketball: Florida Atlantic (-7.5) to cover against North Florida (2 p.m. ET). "FAU plays with a lot more control (than North Florida), they'll play with a little slower tempo, but they don't make many mistakes," Mike says. "I think it's a gift. If you look at some of (FAU's) games, they almost beat Miami, just some pretty big wins and some good covers for this team."

Bell closes things out with a prop bet in the NFL: Over 0.5 interceptions for Houston's Tyrod Taylor (-115) in the Texans-Colts game (1 p.m. ET). "The Colts lead the NFL in turnovers, also points off of turnovers," Allan says. "I expect Indianapolis to start early, start often and just get after Houston because this game is so incredibly important to them. We should get Tyrod Taylor over 30-plus attempts in the air. Indianapolis is going to be all over him."
