Today's top picks: Why Oregon will cover against Stanford and more college football expert bets for Saturday, Oct. 2
The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Saturday, Oct. 2, on The Early Edge podcast
Allan Bell is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure and Micah Roberts on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for college football for Saturday, Oct. 2.
Bell starts things off with the SportsLine Play of the Day: Under 52 points in the UConn-Vanderbilt game (7:30 p.m. ET). "Neither team's offense can really move the ball down the field, which we've seen," Bell says.
Roberts has two college football picks. The first is Wisconsin (-2) to cover against Michigan (noon ET). "Their one thing that they do well at Michigan [running the ball] is negated by the one thing that Wisconsin does well [stopping the run]," he says.
Roberts also likes Notre Dame (+2) to cover against Cincinnati (2:30 p.m. ET). "Cincinnati is a fine club, but I'm not impressed by who they've played this year, and they haven't played a true road game," he says.
McClure's pair of picks comes in college football. The first is Under 25.5 points in the first half of the Arkansas-Georgia game (noon ET). "I think if the scoring comes and they figure each other out, it's gonna be in the second half of this game," he says. "I think we're going to see a lot of running the ball early."
McClure also likes Under 17.5 points in the first quarter of the Alabama-Ole Miss game (3:30 p.m. ET). "The game plan is simple here for Alabama," he says. "It's gonna be keep the Ole Miss offense off the field as much as they possibly can, and it's going to start from the opening kickoff of this game."
Bell also has two college football picks. The first is Oregon (-8) to cover against Stanford (3:30 p.m. ET). "I think Oregon pretty much names their score in this game, and they're going to control the game running the ball," he says.
Bell closes out The Early Edge with Wake Forest (-7) covering against Louisville (12:30 p.m. ET). "I think defensively [the Demon Deacons] are good enough to get just a few extra stops while they are still scoring offensively," he says.
