Today's picks: Why Tigers will beat Angels, plus more MLB and DFL-Supercup picks for Tuesday

SportsLine's featured experts reveal their favorite bets on the Early Edge podcast for Tuesday, August 17

Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Matthew Severance, Zack Cimini and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the best plays for Major League Baseball and DFL-Supercup for Tuesday, August 17.

Matt looks ahead to the upcoming week of NFL preseason and strongly recommends fading Tampa Bay, pointing out a notable trend in exhibition games for defending Super Bowl champions. Zack previews the NBA Summer League championship game at 9 p.m. ET in Las Vegas. Larry discusses updated NFL Rookie of the Year odds after the first full wave of preseason games.

The Coach highlights two SportsLine Plays of the Day from DFL-SuperCup. He is backing Dortmund and Bayern to go Over 3.5 goals at 2:30 p.m. ET, and Bayern to win at +126. A shootout is expected, as both teams are not good on defense and have additional personnel issues.

In MLB, Matt is taking the Tigers -130 over the Angels at 7:10 p.m. ET. "The Angels had to fly from L.A. to New York on Sunday, and then to Detroit late last night. That is pretty tough on any team," he says. "There's a few pitchers you always fade no matter who you are playing against and today that is Dylan Bundy. He's one of the worst pitchers in baseball. The Tigers are a great team at home. They are also 7-1 in their last eight after an off day." Matt also provides a prop play from Cubs-Reds at 7:10 p.m. ET. He is going with Joey Votto over Frank Schwindel for total bases at -145. Schwindel has been a pleasant surprise, but Matt says this is an easy call.

Zack is going against the data with his pick of the Brewers -153 over the Cardinals at 7:45 p.m. ET. St. Louis is rolling and has Adam Wainwright on the mound, but Milwaukee will benefit from an off day.

Larry is on the Reds -1.5 over the Cubs. Cincinnati has owned Kyle Hendricks. He is also taking the Blue Jays -1.5 over the Nationals at 7:05 p.m. ET. The pitching matchup easily favors Toronto.
