Today's picks: Why the Tar Heels will cover, plus more college football, MLB and Tour Championship picks for Friday

Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Mike McClure, Justin Perri and Larry Hartstein  on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the prime plays for college football and Major League Baseball for Friday, September 3.

The team breaks down the storylines to know, including buying points on or off key numbers, which came into play on Thursday night. The Coach then gets into the SportsLine Plays of the Day, including Michigan State +3 against Northwestern (9 p.m. ET), with one of SportsLine's site experts believing the wrong team is favored. The Coach then gives out two plays for the Tour Championship, laying the -150 with Dustin Johnson over Louis Oosthuizen and Billy Horschel +105 over Tony Finau.

Mike leads off the college football picks, saying he loves North Carolina -5.5 at Virginia Tech (6 p.m. ET). "Carolina returns their entire offensive line and Heisman candidate quarterback Sam Powell, and I love the weapons they added," he says, also noting that he makes the Tar Heels 7.9-point favorites in his simulations.

Justin has two MLB picks for Friday, including the Yankees -2 at +115 over the Orioles (7:05 p.m. ET). The Yankees have dominated the Orioles this season, not just in the standings but in runs, with their average winning margin well over two runs when they beat Baltimore.
