Today's picks: Why the Rockies will beat the Reds, plus NBA, MLS and PGA for Sunday, May 1

The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Sunday, May 1, on The Early Edge podcast

Allan Bell is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure, Micah Roberts, Larry Hartstein and Jonathan Coachman on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for the MLB, NBA and soccer for Sunday, May 1.

Bell starts things off with four SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first is in MLS: Both teams to score (-109) in the Nashville SC-Philadelphia Union match (1 p.m. ET). "This place is going to be a madhouse," he says. "Philly is definitely going to put one on the board. Nashville should put one on the board as well, as they'll be looking for a little revenge."

The other three plays are in the NBA. The first is the Bucks to score Over 106.5 points (-120) against the Celtics in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series (1 p.m. ET). "The Bucks have eclipsed this number in 12 of their last 13 games," Allan says. "Boston, they've given up this number to opponents in five of their last six games."

The next bet is the Warriors (-2) to cover against the Grizzlies in the opener of their Western Conference semifinals matchup (3:30 p.m. ET). "Memphis has kind of owned Golden State this year. I believe they're 3-1 against the spread, 3-1 straight up," Bell says. "That being said, Memphis had a seemingly more difficult matchup against Minnesota in their previous series than Golden State did with Denver." The final play is also in this game: Over 2.5 3-pointers for Golden State's Jordan Poole (+120).

McClure is up next with an NBA parlay. He likes the Celtics on the money line against the Bucks and the Warriors +8.5 (-115) against the Grizzlies (-115). "Boston should definitely be favored in this game on their home floor. I like them in this spot," Mike says. "I think they're going to create a lot of problems for Memphis. For one, I think Jaren Jackson Jr. has basically no chance of playing in this game without getting into foul trouble. That's definitely going to hurt Memphis in this spot."

Roberts follows with an NBA play of his own. He likes Over 217.5 in the Bucks-Celtics contest. "I think it's going to be a fast-paced game," Micah says. "The Bucks this season, average score was 115-112. The Celtics are almost there, No. 1 defense in the NBA. They press each other's buttons, they know how to get each other to move the ball and score a lot of points. … They've gone Over in their last nine meetings eight times, and all nine times, they've gone Over (this number)."

Hartstein jumps in with a pair of plays. In an NBA parlay, he likes the Celtics and Heat to win their Eastern Conference semifinal series (-111). "Robert Williams is back for the Celtics, that's huge," he says. "When he was on the floor in the regular season, this was a historically elite defense. … No (Khris) Middleton is huge. He would guard (Jayson) Tatum a lot. He has historically played well against the Celtics. It didn't matter against the Bulls, but now his absence will matter. … I liked the Heat, even with (Joel) Embiid on the floor."

Larry's second play is in Major League baseball: The Rockies (-156) to beat the Reds and complete a three-game series sweep (3:10 p.m. ET). "(The Reds) send out (Reiver) Sanmartin, a lefty," he says. "The Rockies have an .820 OPS against lefties. That's the second-best in all of baseball. Kyle Freeland is starting to put it together for Colorado."

Coach makes a cameo appearance to wrap things up with a play in the PGA. He likes Nate Lashley (-117) over Kurt Kitayama in the final round of the Mexico Open (11:49 a.m. ET). "Nate Lashley shot a 7-under 64 on Saturday," he says. "He plays very, very good on courses that are near the ocean, in the wind. Kitayama is going to realize, 'Wait a second, I could win this golf tournament.' That's when you start to get a little bit nervous and that's when you start to hit errant tee shots."
