Today's picks: Why the Rangers will beat the Mariners, plus more MLB, NBA, NASCAR and soccer for Sunday, June 5

The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Sunday, June 5, on The Early Edge podcast

Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure, John Bollman and Micah Roberts on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball, NASCAR, soccer and the NBA for Sunday, June 5.

Coach starts things off with two SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first is both teams to score (-110) in the United States-Uruguay international friendly soccer match (5 p.m. ET). "The United States scored three goals last time out," he says. "Uruguay, they'll get past (the American) defense." The second play is in MLB: Over 7.5 in the Diamondbacks-Pirates game (1:35 p.m. ET).

McClure is up next with a parlay in the NBA Finals. He likes Over 205.5 and Under 225.5 (+115) in Game 2 between the Celtics and Warriors (8 p.m. ET). "We saw 228 points in the first matchup. That happened to have a 26-point spurt in less than 3 ½ minutes. Not expecting something like that to happen again in this spot," Mike says. "These teams are No. 1 and No. 2 in terms of defensive efficiency in the NBA. Expect a few more missed shots in this one."

Roberts follows three plays, with the first two coming in NASCAR. He likes Ryan Blaney (-120) over Ross Chastain and Joey Logano (-110) over Tyler Reddick in the Enjoy Illinois 300 (3:30 p.m. ET). "Basically, it comes down to what they did in practice. They impressed me so much," he says. "The skills of these two guys are made for this type of track. This is what they've been good at for most of their careers. … They were first and second in the practice single-time sessions, and then they were one and two in the 10 consecutive lap averages, which I find more important than the actual practice speeds."

Micah's third play is in MLB. He likes the Diamondbacks (-145) to defeat the Pirates in the rubber match of their three-game series. "(Zac Gallen) is the rock, he's the solid foundation," he says. "He's the guy every five days, the Diamondbacks know they're going to win. They've won seven of his nine starts, six of his last seven starts. It's just a confidence thing. He's young, but he's pretty much the (team's) ace."

Coach jumps back in with a pair of MLB plays. The first is the Rays (-110) to beat the White Sox in the rubber match of their three-game set (1:40 p.m. ET). "The White Sox have their best pitcher, (Lucas) Giolito, on the mound, but he's pitching away. It's Sunday afternoon," he says. "All of this stuff is working against him."

His second play is Over 8.5 (-103) in the finale of the five-game series between the Cardinals and Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball (7 p.m. ET). "These two teams have used everybody and the kitchen sink this weekend," he says. "They're toast, they're out, they're done."

Bollman wraps things up with two MLB plays of his own. He likes the Rangers (-130) to defeat the Mariners in the rubber match of their three-game series (2:35 p.m. ET). "It's Martin Perez day in Texas. He's probably the frontrunner for Cy Young, along with Nestor Cortes, in the AL," he says. "Martin Perez was 4-0 with a 0.64 ERA in May. He's now made eight straight starts pitching at least six innings with one run or fewer. … The Rangers have been one of the best teams in the league in May and they still have pretty much their whole bullpen available today."

John's second play is the Phillies (-125) to defeat the Angels to complete a three-game sweep (1:35 p.m. ET). "We're going to keep fading the Angels until they win," he says. "The Phillies hit lefties much better than they do righties. Kyle Gibson has been very consistent this season. He's really only had one bad start, but that was against the Dodgers in LA, so that's very understandable. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Joe Maddon give someone like Mike Trout the day off before flying home tonight. He's been struggling, he could use a day."
