Today's picks: Why the Mariners will beat the Astros, plus more MLB for Sunday, July 24

The SportsLine crew shares its expert bets for Sunday, July 24, on The Early Edge podcast

Allan Bell is joined by expert sports bettors Mike McClure, Jonathan Coachman and Micah Roberts on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for Major League Baseball for Sunday, July 24.

Bell starts things off with the SportsLine Play of the Day: Over 9 runs in the Rockies-Brewers game (2:10 p.m. ET). "These two teams, in their last three games - two of them against each other, they've gone double digits," Allan says. "I think that we continue that today. The Brewers are 53 percent at home to the Over. They're giving up 5.1-plus runs per game over their last seven."

Roberts is up next with a pair of plays. The first is the White Sox (-127) to beat the Guardians in the finale of their four-game series (2:10 p.m. ET). "This is where you need your ace to come down and settle the ship," he says. "Dylan Cease has been absolutely amazing. (The White Sox) have gone 8-2 in his last 10 starts. He looks like a Cy Young candidate. Seven of those 10 games, no earned runs allowed. The other three, one run allowed. … I like Cease in this spot."

Micah's second play is the Mariners (+110) to defeat the Astros and avoid a three-game sweep (4:10 p.m. ET). "(The Mariners) have got to show that that 14-game win streak wasn't a joke," he says. "They've won (Robbie Ray's) last six starts. He's only allowed seven runs combined in those six starts. He's been amazing. He's really pitching his tail off. I look for the Mariners to stand up and beat the Astros in this spot."

McClure follows with a play of his own. He likes Over 5 runs for New York (-115) in the Yankees-Orioles three-game series finale (1:35 p.m. ET). "(Baltimore's) Dean Cremer, .312 actual weighted on-base average - right around league average, maybe slightly better in some situations," Mike says. "The expected number balloons over .350. The weather conditions, 100 degrees, air density index in the 50s, great hitting environment overall. … The Yankees were 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position, left 11 on base (yesterday). Don't expect them to leave double digits on base in this one."

Coach makes a cameo appearance to wrap things up, saying he likes Over 7.5 runs (-120) in the Padres-Mets contest (7 p.m. ET).
