SportsLine's proven experts share their favorite bets on the Early Edge podcast for Tuesday, May 31
Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Mike Barner and Calvin Wetzel on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get highlighted plays for the NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball for Tuesday, May 31, and you can stream the show live every morning on the SportsLine YouTube page.
Coach starts things off with two SportsLine plays of the day. The first comes from Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in the NHL: the Oilers (+1.5) to cover against the Avalanche (8 p.m. ET). "[The Avalanche] got taken to the brink by St. Louis," he says.
The second play is the Guardians (-115) to beat the Royals (6:10 p.m. ET). "This hits in 64 percent of our simulations," Coach says.
Barner has two plays from Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors and Celtics, which begin on Thursday (9 p.m. ET). The first is Under 20.5 points for Klay Thompson. "The Celtics allowed the lowest 3-point shooting percentage in the league during the regular season," Barner says. "That should cause problems for Thompson."
The second play is a three-leg parlay: Jayson Tatum to have at least six rebounds and four assists and Jaylen Brown to have at least 20 points (+130). "These are all three conservative player props that, when combined, get you to plus odds," Barner says.
Coach then chimes in with two Cash with Coach plays. The first is Over 9 runs (-120) in the Mets-Nationals game (7:10 p.m. ET). "A pitching matchup that just screams Over, Over, Over," he says.
His second play is the Cardinals (-125) to beat the Padres (7:45 p.m. ET). "The Padres are cooked, they're gassed, they are tired," he says.
Wetzel closes out the show with two plays from the WNBA. The first is a two-team parlay: the Sky to beat the Mercury (7 p.m. ET) and the Aces to beat the Sun (9 p.m. ET). "[The Mercury] are not playing well at all right now," he says. He adds, "[The Aces] look awesome under Becky Hammon, the way she has modernized their offense," he says.
His final play is the Wings (+105) to beat the Sparks (10:30 p.m. ET). "I think the wrong team is favored here," he says. "The Wings are just the better team."
