Today's picks: Why Nationals will beat Marlins, plus more MLB and UEFA Champions picks for Tuesday, August 24

Zack opens by singing the praises of Matt, who is on a terrific MLB run. Matt looks back at Monday's Jaguars' performance and sees more rough times ahead for rookie head coach Urban Meyer. He also spotlights some overwhelming preseason trends that clearly favor the AFC. Zack peers ahead to Week 1 of the NFL regular season and  reveals some important numbers on QBs who have changed teams. Allan tells us why we should focus on first halves in Week 3 of NFL exhibition games. 

The Coach features the SportsLine Plays of the Day, both from the UEFA Champions League. He backs the selection of Ludogorets and Malmo both to score at -162 at 3 p.m. ET. He also endorses the pick of BSC Young Boys +100 over Ferencvaros at 3 p.m. ET. 

Matt's prime MLB play is the Braves -135 over the Yankees at 7:20 p.m. ET. He believes Atlanta will end New York's winning streak. The Braves pound lefties and Andrew Heaney is headed for a tough night. 

Zack is going with the Mets -111 over the Giants at 7:10 p.m. ET. New York is expecting the return of Francisco Lindor and recently welcomed Javier Baez back to the lineup. The Mets should be ready to roll at Citi Field after an off day. 

Allan has two MLB picks, including the Angels -125 over the Orioles at 7:05 p.m. ET. Baltimore is on an awful streak that makes it an easy target. He is also taking the Nationals -105 over the Marlins at 7:10 p.m. ET. "The Nationals are 59 percent straight up this season as a betting favorite," he says. "The Marlins are 6-11 after a day off, plus Miami is only averaging 2.9 runs per game over its last seven."
