Today's picks: Why Cardinals will win vs. Nationals, plus more MLB and NBA picks for Monday

The Coach is back with featured sports betting experts Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. The trio delivers their favorite picks for MLB and the NBA for Monday, April 19. 

Mike lays out the rocky landscape in the NBA, where injuries are significantly shaking up outlooks again. The Pistons and Cavaliers have nothing to play for, and their rotations are a mess. The Warriors and 76ers are dealing with issues affecting key performers. Mike has an update on two big Celtics names, and the Thunder are completely decimated. Memphis is short-handled and the Jazz-Lakers matchup will be missing some major star power. Larry then adds the SportsLine storylines of the day, with some interesting early MLB trends involving run production and he spotlights a terrific feature returning to the site for MLB plays. 

The Coach issues the SportsLine Play of the Day, endorsing the surging Rays and the Royals, with Danny Duffy on the mound to go over 7.5 runs. First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET. 

Coming off a very strong weekend, Mike dives in with the Cardinals -115 over the Nationals at 7:05 p.m. ET. "Their ace, Jack Flaherty is on the mound. The Cardinals pitching staff has been awful this year outside of Jack Flaherty. He is still the one true ace on the staff at this point," he says. "He is taking on Joe Ross. His numbers look good so far this season, but he's definitely pitching above his mean if you look at some of his long-term career numbers, especially against left-handed hitters." 

In the NBA, Larry will continue to go with NBA triple-doubles leader Russell Westbrook until he stops cashing, which may not be any time soon. He rides again with Westbrook, at over 12.5 rebounds in Wizards-Thunder at 8 p.m. ET. In MLB, Larry is on the Dodgers -1.5 over over the Mariners at 10:10 p.m. ET. He is especially enthused about Los Angeles because the Dodgers are coming off a loss.
