Today's picks: Why Cardinals-Pirates will go Over, plus more MLB, college football and Serie A picks for Friday

Larry does have his eye on Friday's Steelers-Panthers NFL preseason matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Panthers are finally going to give Sam Darnold more extensive work in their exhibition finale. 

The Coach drops the SportsLine Plays of the Day, jumping on the site bandwagon in college football. He fully endorses Illinois +7 over Nebraska at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday. In Serie A, the Coach highlights Inter Milan to win and score two or more goals at -118 in a mismatch with Verona at 2:45 p.m. ET. 

Allie is going with the Dodgers in the first five innings -0.5 over the Rockies at 10:10 p.m. ET. Colorado has been performing well in the first five innings over its last 10 games, but that was at home, and the Rockies are so much of a different team in away games. 

Mike is running it back with the Cardinals and Pirates Over nine runs at 7:05 p.m. ET. "The weather conditions are absolutely identical to yesterday. The air density is 59, and it will be 85 degrees," he says, The teams combined for 18 runs on Thursday. "Once again it is a top-10 park and we have worse pitchers on the mound today. Dillon Peters has really struggled in his career. On the other side, we know how much J.A. Happ has struggled at times."

Larry is on the Yankees in the first five innings -0.5 over the A's at 9:40 p.m. ET. The pitching matchup easily favors the Yankees, and Oakland is certainly heading in the wrong direction, while New York is blazing hot.
