Today's picks: Why Arizona State will cover against UCLA, plus more college basketball, NHL and soccer for Monday, Feb. 21

Jonathan Coachman is joined by expert sports bettors Zack Cimini, Allie O'Neill and Chip Patterson on The Early Edge podcast. They give you their best bets for college basketball, soccer and the NHL for Monday, Feb. 21.

Coach starts things off with two SportsLine Plays of the Day. The first is Napoli (-160) to defeat Cagliari in their Serie A soccer match (1 p.m. ET) and the second is Over 158 in the Citadel-Samford college basketball game (8 p.m. ET).

O'Neill is up next with a parlay in the NHL. She likes Colorado to win and Under 6.5 goals in the Avalanche-Bruins contest at +170 (1 p.m. ET). "(Boston goaltender Jeremy) Swayman has a 2.14 GAA, and 10 of his last 11 starts have stayed Under 6.5," Allie says. "The Bruins have really been struggling to score without (Brad) Marchand. The five games he's served in his suspension, all of them have stayed at six or under. The Avalanche are not super hot on the road when it comes to scoring and the Bruins, I think they're going to focus a little more defensively."

Cimini follows with a play in college basketball. He likes Penn State (+3) to cover against Maryland (7 p.m. ET). "I think (the Nittany Lions are) going to keep this game close," he says. "They've had great success against Maryland, they've won the past five matchups - including two last season. Seth Lundy scored 31 points, the second-best outing of his career, in one of those games. … I'm not convinced this Maryland team is going to cover this one."

Patterson wraps things up with a trio of college hoops plays. The first is Over 138.5 in the Baylor-Oklahoma State contest (9 p.m. ET). "When (Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua) got knocked out of the lineup, it didn't really impact the scoring, but it impacted Baylor defensively," he says. "A Baylor team that likes to get out and run, that has a lot of different scorers in the lineup, they actually have to score more in order to make up for some of their absences on the defensive end. … Oklahoma State is going to do its part. Oklahoma State Overs have cashed in six of the last eight games."

Next, Chip likes Arizona State (+14.5) to cover against UCLA (9 p.m. ET). "Arizona State won (against UCLA) in triple overtime at home earlier this month," he says. "Is there going to be a revenge angle for UCLA? Yes. But does revenge include making sure that you also cover this double-digit win? No. Confidence keeps this competitive."

Patterson's final play is Louisville (+10) to cover against North Carolina (7 p.m. ET). "I think that Louisville has a deeper bench. North Carolina, a very short rotation," he says. "Less possessions makes it easier for an underdog to cover. I do think North Carolina wins at home, but I think that Louisville, with a deeper bench, deeper rotation, fresher legs late in the game, I think they end up staying inside this number."
