Today's picks: Mississippi State-Texas Tech best bet, plus more college football, NFL and NBA picks for Tuesday

SportsLine's proven experts share their favorite bets on the Early Edge podcast for Tuesday, Dec. 28

Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Mike Barner, Chip Patterson, Larry Hartstein, and Zack Cimini on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get highlighted plays for college football, the NFL, and the NBA for Tuesday, Dec. 28, and you can stream the show live every morning on the SportsLine YouTube page.

Chip opens by focusing on coaching issues for Auburn, Texas Tech, and Minnesota. Mike has an update on how the latest COVID-19 problems are impacting player availability. Larry looks at how COVID-19 concerns have hit the Raiders hard as they prepare to take on Jonathan Taylor and the Colts.

Mike's featured NBA play is the Cavaliers -5.5 over the Pelicans at 8 p.m. ET. Cleveland is Mike's favorite team to bet and he reveals some convincing ATS trends that back the pick up well. New Orleans is also in a bad spot without Brandon Ingram.

Zack has two college football picks, including Houston +2 against Auburn at noon ET. Meltdowns have been the norm for the Tigers, as they just cannot hold a lead. The Cougars offense is too much to handle for Auburn. He is also on Louisville in a pick 'em spot over Air Force at 3:15 p.m. ET. The Cardinals are not a typical 6-6 team, as they have dealt with a very strong schedule. Air Force has also not seen a QB with the skills of Malik Cunningham.

Chip has three college football picks, leading with Mississippi State -10 over Texas Tech at 6:45 p.m. ET. "This pick is because Texas Tech had the worst pass defense in the Big 12. That's a bad thing going against this Mississippi State passing offense," he says. "We do have some Mississippi State players that are not available, including on the offensive line. But I don't care as much about the offensive line when they are running an air raid."

Chip is also recommending UCLA and N.C. State Under 60 points at 8 p.m. ET. The Wolfpack defense will be a major factor in this one. The Bruins' stats seem inflated by their late-season mix of opponents. He finishes with Minnesota -5 over West Virginia at 10:15 p.m. ET. The Golden Gophers will have a clever approach to getting past some coaching challenges.

Larry is going with the Cowboys -5.5 over the Cardinals at Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. The Cowboys defense is looking dominant because of having some key performers back in action in recent weeks. The Cardinals are in the midst of another late-season collapse.
