Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Chip Patterson and Allan Bell on a special college football bowl edition of the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get highlighted plays for college football for Friday, Dec. 31, and you can stream the show live every morning on the SportsLine YouTube page.

The guys begin with a comprehensive breakdown of the Gator Bowl, featuring Wake Forest and Rutgers at 11 a.m. ET. This is a difficult spot to see what to expect from Rutgers, and he would lean to Wake Forest here. The Coach does not expect to see much from Rutgers on offense and considers the Under. Chip warns of Sam Hartman's struggles in bigger games, so you may want to consider a halftime play.

In the Sun Bowl between Washington State and Central Michigan at noon ET, Allan says he is going with Washington State if he makes a play on this game. The Cougars certainly have the better offense. Chip does not doubt that Central Michigan can pull off an upset, but if there is also a good possibility the Chippewas may not be able to stick close at all.

Allan sees the Cotton Bowl between Cincinnati and Alabama at 3:30 p.m. ET going Under 58.5 points. He sees Cincinnati playing conservatively in the first half in a game of field position. Alabama also has another game to play and may not go full tilt in this one. Chip is taking an under of 57.5, as the Cincinnati secondary will be a major factor, but the Bearcats are also going to have a very difficult time with the fearsome Alabama front. Chip is also taking the Crimson Tide at -13.5, as the Bearcats offense will face a very daunting task vs. the Alabama defense overall.

In the Orange Bowl at 7:30 p.m. ET, Chip is on Michigan +7.5 over Georgia. "I think this is going to be a phenomenal game. This is going to be a one possession game with five minutes left," he says. "Don't you want to be holding the dog and 7.5 points? I think we are going to see Cade McNamara do a pretty good job of moving the ball. The Michigan defense will cause some real problems for Stetson Bennett. I like being able to take all those points with the Wolverines."

Allan expects both teams to go Over 45.5 points in the Orange Bowl. He notes that Michigan leads the nation in plays of 50-plus yards from scrimmage. Michigan will be aggressive early, forcing Georgia to  speed up its pace of play.
