Jonathan Coachman is joined by top sports betting experts Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. Get the best plays for the NBA Finals, Gold Cup soccer and ATP Newport tennis for Friday July 16.

The show begins with some exciting news about the Early Edge being in the running for a tremendous industry honor. The Coach then reminds us about an MMA episode that is not to be missed. Mike brings up into the second half of the MLB season, looking at the fallout from the Yankees' COVID-19 issues, and he advises us to ease carefully into the first few days after the All-Star break because of the inconsistency of some lineup information.

The Coach supplies the SportsLine Plays of the Day from the site models and experts. He is backing the CONCACAF Gold Cup pick of Costa Rica win to nil over Suriname at -150 at 8:30 p.m. ET. In MLB, the Rockies are a value play again at +1.5 over the Dodgers at 8:40 p.m. ET.

The highlighted ATP Newport tennis pick from Mike is Jordan Thompson and Maxime Cressy Over 23.5 games at +105 at 2:20 p.m. ET. Cressy has an unorthodox style of play and a height advantage, and Thompson is less comfortable on grass,

Mike's featured NBA prop play is Chris Paul Over 20.5 points at -125 in Bucks-Suns in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday. "In those road games at Milwaukee, he wasn't super aggressive, and didn't look like he wanted to shoot a lot of times there," Mike says. "He did not shoot a free throw in the last game, which is unusual for someone like Chris Paul. I think he needs that home energy. I think he needs that home crowd. It is a must-win game for the Phoenix Suns."

In MLB, Larry is on the Nationals +1.5 over the Nationals at 7:05 p.m. ET. San Diego does not play as well on the road, and Washington will enjoy facing Chris Paddack again. The Coach then drops an additional NBA Finals Game 5 play, taking Cam Johnson Over 9.5 points. The show wraps up with some bonus selections from the Jeweler.
