Today's odds, picks: Why Athletics will keep winning vs. Orioles, plus more MLB, NBA and NHL recommendations for Friday, April 23

The SportsLine team shares its prime bets for Friday, April 23 on the Early Edge podcast

The Coach is joined by featured sports betting experts Mike McClure and Larry Hartstein on the Early Edge podcast, powered by SportsLine. The guys supply their top picks for MLB, the NBA and NHL for Friday, April 23.

Another in-depth NBA injury rundown opens the show, as Mike has the latest updates on several issues for the Celtics, the status of Kevin Durant, a banged-up Hawks squad and much more. He tells us what the Clippers might do with their top stars and how the Rockets will continue to tank, and he adds his insights on the Wizards. The Coach shares his takes on how all of the injuries are tilting the NBA landscape. Larry then finishes off the SportsLine Storylines of the Day by talking about the impact of sports betting finally coming to New York.

The Coach reveals his SportsLine Play of he Day in the NHL, supporting the pick of the Rangers -160 over the Flyers at 7 p.m. ET. Philadelphia is not going to pull another upset this time, he says.

Mike looks to keep up his sizzling run in MLB by offering two picks from Cubs-Brewers at 2:20 p.m. ET. He likes the matchup for the Chicago bats against Brett Anderson, so he takes Cubs -0.5 for the first five innings. He is also going with the Cubs on the runline at -1.5, because Kyle Hendricks has a lot of strikeout promise vs. the Milwaukee lineup. In the American League, Mike is recommending the Royals -115 over the Tigers at 7:10 p.m. ET. The Detroit hitters will certainly be quieted by another left-handed pitcher.

Larry continues to ride high with Russell Westbrook in NBA props, taking the league's triple-doubles leader to go Over 13.5 rebounds in Wizards-Thunder at 8 p.m. ET. Westbrook has to pick up some slack on the boards for Washington because of injuries. On the OKC side, he is going with Darius Bazley Over 13.5 rebounds.

Larry's favorite MLB selection for Friday is from A's-Orioles at 7 p.m. ET. "If their jerseys said 'Yankees' on them and they had won 11 straight, they would be laying more than -130 today against the Orioles and (Jorge) Lopez, who has an 8.56 ERA," he says. Larry points out that Cole Irvin is "nothing special, but the lineups here are so different. That one game against the Twins (25 runs on Wednesday) was an outlier. The A's were dominating with their pitching so I will lay the -130 with Oakland."
