SportsLine contest winner Bobby Weir officially signs up for 2019 SuperContest

Bobby Weir won the inaugural SportsLine SuperContest Pool Member Exclusive, going 151-105 against the spread on NFL picks last season. For his efforts, Weir won a trip to Vegas and a $1,500 entry into the 2019 Las Vegas SuperContest -- total approximate prize value $4,000.

Last week, SportsLine flew Weir and a friend to Vegas and bought his entry into the 2019 SuperContest, which is run by the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. This year's SuperContest is expected to draw more than 3,500 contestants, with a top prize of more than $1.5 million.

The SuperContest is a handicapping challenge in which contestants pick five NFL games against the spread each week. Only the top 100 finishers receive prize money.

Weir, 52, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., used SportsLine's advanced computer and seasoned Vegas experts to finish on top of the SportsLine SuperContest Pool Member Exclusive leaderboard last season. 

Each week, members picked the pointspread winners of every NFL game. Weir beat hundreds of contestants and topped the standings with a 151-105 record. Sean Hall finished just one point behind Weir, while Luis Bena took third.

"Every week I relied heavily on SportsLine's expert and computer picks," Weir said. "I primarily used SportsLine's information and recommendations as a starting point and made adjustments based on my own information. My goal was to try to be as consistent as possible, and when I didn't have a strong position, I always favored large and/or home 'dogs."

Weir's strategy, combined with SportsLine's recommendations, allowed him to log 11 winning weeks during the regular season.

"If SportsLine's expert and computer picks aligned with my initial preference, I locked the pick in," Weir told SportsLine. "If there was a conflict, I tried to look at everything, particularly schedule."
