Valencia hosts Atletico Madrid on Monday in a Spanish La Liga match between teams looking for some consistency. Both started the season with a victory followed by a loss. Atletico, the league champion two years ago, cruised to a 3-0 victory over Getafe in their opener but lost 2-0 at home to Villareal last Sunday. Valencia eked out a 1-0 victory at home against Girona before losing by the same score at Athletic Bilbao last weekend. Atletico finished last season third in the table, two points behind second-place Barcelona, while Valencia finished ninth.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET. at Mestalla Stadium in Valencia, Spain. Atletico are the +101 favorites (risk $100 to win $101) on the 90-minute money line in the latest Valencia vs. Atletico Madrid odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Valencia are a +310 underdog, a regulation draw is priced at +225 and the Over/Under for total goals scored is 2.5. (For more soccer coverage, click here).
Before you lock in your Atletico Madrid vs. Valencia picks or 2022-23 Spanish La Liga predictions, you NEED to see what soccer insider Jon Eimer has to say.
Eimer is a high-volume bettor who has vast knowledge of leagues and players across the globe. Since joining SportsLine, Eimer has covered the English Premier League, Serie A, the FA Cup and much more. He is 64-50-1 on his last 115 soccer picks overall.
Eimer knows Atletico need to get a positive result as they enter a rough stretch of the schedule, and they remain one of La Liga's more talented sides. Atletico yielded both goals in the final 20 minutes last weekend, and Alvaro Morata scored twice and Antonie Griezmann also tallied in the matchup with Getafe. Morata is back after scoring 20 goals in two years on loan at Juventus and is drawing interest in the transfer market. Atletico scored 17 more goals than Valencia last season and conceded 10 fewer.
The expert also has considered that Valencia's back line has been nearly impossible to crack so far. It has allowed just three shots on target (second-fewest) and 17 total attempts (tied for third-fewest). Their only goal has come on a Carlos Soler penalty, and they have struggled to put shots on target, with just one so far. But they have one more attempt than Atletico, so they will start hitting the mark. Soler led the team with 11 goals, though seven of those were on penalties, and added five assists last season.
