Saratoga morning line odds: Racing insider offers picks for the late Pick 4 on Saturday, Sept. 4

World class thoroughbred racing takes place at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and on Saturday the late Pick 4 begins with Race 9 at 5:01 p.m. ET and ends with the Jockey Club Gold Cup. Saratoga Springs-based racing insider and Beyer Speed Figure maker Bob Weir has studied the race and formulated trifecta and superfecta wagers in his analysis below. A two-time qualifier for the prestigious National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas, Weir has produced multiple five-figure days at the track over the years, including a $60,000 Pick 6 at Del Mar in 2014. This year, he has crushed the 3-year-old races. He hit the exacta in the Sam F. Davis Stakes, Tampa Bay Derby and Peter Pan Stakes, the trifecta in the Risen Star Stakes and Blue Grass Stakes and the superfecta in the Belmont Stakes. Those are just some of his scores in 2021.

The Pick 4 on Saturday covers Races 9 through 12 and includes two Grade 1 races, the Flower Bowl Stakes and the Jockey Club Gold Cup. The Flower Bowl has attracted a field of seven fillies and mares, including arguably the best turf filly in the country, War Like Goddess. In her last start she powered by a solid field in Grade 2 Glens Falls Stakes with very little encouragement. After that dominant performance, she has been installed as the 4-5 morning-line favorite in the Flower Bowl. 

Meanwhile the Jockey Club Gold Cup has attracted six of the East Coast's top horses, but none is a confirmed front runner. All six like to run from off the pace. Given the dearth of early speed, the opportunity exists for an aggressive jockey to send his horse to the front and steal the race on the front end.

Weir has handicapped the late Pick 4 at Saratoga for Saturday, made his picks and constructed his tickets.

We can tell you that Weir is high on War Like Goddess, the 4-5 favorite in the Flower Bowl, the third leg of the Pick 4. "She has just cruised to victory in her last two," Weir tells SportsLine. War Like Goddess is Weir's top pick in the Flower Bowl and a single A horse on his Pick 4 tickets.
