It's a good thing that the Los Angeles Rams were able to sign free-agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr. because that became a huge position of need over the weekend when starting wideout Robert Woods was lost for the season to a torn ACL suffered in practice. OBJ will make his L.A. debut on Monday night as the Rams visit the San Francisco 49ers, who are 3.5-point underdogs on the NFL odds at Caesars Sportsbook. Click here for model picks on game.
At Caesars Sportsbook, 86 percent of the tickets on the spread is on Los Angeles but 57 percent of the money is on San Francisco. On the total of 50, 73 percent of tickets is on the Over but 63 percent of money on the Under.
Woods tore the ACL in his left knee on Friday on a non-contact play. He somehow finished practice despite it. Woods is second on the team behind Cooper Kupp, the NFL's leading receiver, with 45 catches for 556 yards and four touchdowns. His 70 targets this season were tied for 15th in the NFL entering Week 10. Woods even had rushed for 46 yards and a TD on eight carries.
Apparently, Beckham will not take Woods' starting spot – at least not yet. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported that seventh-round rookie WR Ben Skowronek will start Monday instead. Skowronek, from Notre Dame, has three catches for 30 yards. The team does have a "package of plays" designed for Beckham Jr., who also might return punts. He was used as a punt returner early in his career with the Giants, but he has returned only one punt since 2019. His longest return was 25 yards during his rookie season with New York.
Caesars Sportsbook does not have any OBJ Over/Under player props up for Monday, but he is +140 to be an anytime touchdown scorer.
Monday may or may not be the Rams debut of linebacker Von Miller. He was acquired prior to the trade deadline from the Broncos but yet to play due to an ankle injury. The Rams are on the bye after Monday so they may prefer to keep him out and let that ankle heal. Miller, officially listed as questionable, had 4.5 sacks in seven games with Denver.
The Niners are without cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (ankle), safety Tavon Wilson (foot), receiver Mohamed Sanu (knee) and right tackle Mike McGlinchey (quad). McGlinchey was lost for the season in Week 9.
San Francisco is 4-0 SU vs. the Rams the past two seasons but 0-4 SU/ATS this season at home. The Niners haven't started 0-5 at home for the first time since the strike-shortened 1982 campaign.
