Arsenal host struggling Aston Villa on Wednesday at London's Emirates Stadium as they aim to win a fifth straight game to start the 2022-23 English Premier League season. They found themselves in a battle with Fulham on Saturday but pulled off a 2-1 home victory. The Villans (1-0-3) lost a similarly hard-fought matchup with West Ham on Sunday, falling 1-0 in their home turf.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET in London. Arsenal are the -180 favorites (risk $180 to win $100) on the 90-minute money line in the latest Arsenal vs. Aston Villa odds from Caesars Sportsbook. The Villans are a +500 underdog, a regulation draw is priced at +310 and the Over/Under for total goals scored is 2.5. (For more soccer coverage, click here).
Before you lock in your Aston Villa vs. Arsenal picks or 2022-23 Premier League predictions, you NEED to see what soccer insider Jon Eimer has to say.
Eimer is a high-volume bettor who has vast knowledge of leagues and players across the globe. Since joining SportsLine, Eimer has covered the English Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, the FA Cup and much more. He is 28-17-1 on his Premier League picks for SportsLine in 2022, for a profit of more than $1,000 for $100 bettors, and he is 66-50-1 on his last 117 soccer picks overall.
Eimer knows the Gunners have looked strong on both ends of the pitch, scoring 11 goals while conceding just three. They won both meetings between the teams last season, including a 3-1 victory at the Emirates. Only three teams lost more games than Villa's 11 on the road last season. Captain Martin Odegaard scored his third goal of the season Saturday and is among those who have been sparked by the play of new arrival Gabriel Jesus. The former Manchester City attacker's energy has rubbed off on a group that was often listless last season, He has a goal and two assists, and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli has scored twice.
The expert also has considered that Villa is desperate for a victory as manager Steven Gerrard tries to stay afloat. He has won just 16 of his 31 league matches despite the fair amount of talented additions the team has made the past few years. An attack that can feature Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey and Jacob Ramsey can give opponents fits. The Villans defeated Bolton 4-1 in a League Cup match last Tuesday, scoring three of those goals in the second half, so they can get on the board quickly if they can create the chances.
