NFL Week 5 power rankings: Cardinals moving up, plus simulated futures odds for all 32 teams from proven model
With Week 4 in the books, the SportsLine Projection Model has simulated the season 10,000 times and has some surprising futures projections.
We're four weeks into the NFL season and just one undefeated team remains: the Arizona Cardinals. Kliff Kingsbury team has impressed while posting three of their four wins on the road, including this week against a Los Angeles Rams team many had begun to talk about as a Super Bowl favorite following a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Rams dropped out of the No. 4 spot of SportsLine's power rankings as a result of the loss, while the top three teams remain unchanged. Spoiler alert: That top three doesn't include the undefeated Cardinals, who sit back-to-back with the Rams entering Week 5.
Updated NFL futures odds from Caesars Sportsbook still make the 2-2 Kansas City Chiefs the favorite to win the Super Bowl at +550, with the 3-1 Buccaneers in second at +600. Next up are the 3-1 Buffalo Bills at +800, as they switch spots with the Rams at +1000. The Cardinals are all the way up to +1600 after their win over the Rams but sit behind the 3-1 Green Bay Packers (+1200), 3-1 Cleveland Browns (+1300) and 3-1 Baltimore Ravens (+1300) in the futures market.
Before you place any futures bets on who wins the Super Bowl and each conference or division, you need to see what the SportsLine Projection model has to say.
The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up almost $7,800 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. It went a sizzling 24-14 on top-rated NFL picks last season, returning more than $800. The model also enters Week 5 of the 2021 season on an incredible 124-82 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.
The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick'em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is WAY UP.
Below, you can find the power ranking for all 32 teams based on the model's "neutral sim%," which is calculated based on the number of simulations they win playing healthy (in February) vs. every other team on a neutral field. You'll also find the simulation's projection for how often each team wins their division, conference and the Super Bowl, compared to the current available odds, along with notes from the model's creator, Stephen Oh.
