NFL Week 4 teaser best bets: Spread, total and primetime teaser picks from proven NFL expert

Mike Tierney shares the spreads and totals you should be looking to tease in Week 4.

ByUpdated: Sep 30, 2021 1:02PM UTC . 2 min read

With six-point teasers, the eyes are drawn immediately to underdogs of 1.5, 2 or 2.5. The additional half-dozen points for the 'dog take losses by three and seven -- the most frequent margins in NFL games -- out of play.

Week 4 affords us plenty of choices, with four matchups carrying such spreads.

For our two-team teaser, let's resist the temptation to grab a Great Dane-sized 'dog -- Houston +22 against Buffalo -- and settle on a pair of chihuahua-sized ones. Start by scratching the Colts (+2 at Miami), out of concern over Indianapolis QB Carson Wentz, hobbled by sore ankles. He never left the pocket last Sunday.

In a close call, eliminate the Vikings (+2 vs. Cleveland) because of uncertainty surrounding RB Dalvin Cook (ankle). Minnesota remains attractive even if Cook sits, but two other 'dogs earn a slight edge.

Read on to see our top teaser players on the spread, total and in primetime.
