Lookahead picks can unfold in interesting ways.

When we chose the Dallas Cowboys at -3 over the New York Jets in Week 2, we assumed Aaron Rodgers would be available and that the line could inch up because of a Jets loss to Buffalo.

Wrong on all counts. Rodgers is done for the season after just four plays, and the line has ballooned accordingly. Yet we'll take this: Rodgers' absence, combined with Dallas smashing the other New York team, has delivered a spread of -9.5 for Sunday's game. Those of us who seized the -3 are sitting pretty as the rest of the betting world wrestles with the bloated line.

There was a much smaller but still favorable movement with another lookahead recommendation from last week. We suggested Kansas City at -2.5 at Jacksonville. The spread has been nudged to -3, meaning a Chiefs win by a field goal would pay off instead of resulting in a push.
