Jonathan Taylor projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, Indianapolis Colts player profile, season outlook, simulations

He was the best running back in fantasy football last season and continues to merit strong consideration for the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts

Jonathan Taylor took the NFL by storm in his second NFL season, rushing for more than 1,800 yards, scoring 20 combined touchdowns, and leading the league in rushing yardage by more than 600 over his nearest competition. To sum it up, Taylor was a Fantasy league-winner last season, though his success wasn't quite good enough to get Indianapolis into the playoffs.

With veteran quarterback Matt Ryan replacing the inconsistent Carson Wentz, defenses will have to respect Indianapolis' passing game more, which could leave even bigger gaping holes for Taylor.

If there is a concern, it's his workload. He averaged 309 carries per season during his three years at Wisconsin followed by 232 in his rookie season with the Colts and 332 in 2021. At some point those carries might catch up with him, making the risk of injury more prevalent.

With the potential of even bigger numbers this season, Taylor is the likely choice to be the first player chosen in most non-PPR leagues and should be drafted in the top three regardless of the format. A 2,000-yard rushing season isn't inconceivable and if all breaks right, Eric Dickerson's long-standing record of 2,105 rushing yards in 1984 might be in jeopardy.
