The Houston Texans added playmaker John Metchie with the 12th pick in Round 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft -- ahead of more complete wide receiver prospects such as George Pickens, Alec Pierce, Skyy Moore, Jalen Tolbert, and David Bell. With that type of investment made, Houston presumably has a vision for Metchie's utilization. And given his route tree data and mixed success when working varying levels of the field, Metchie may be dependent on scripted touches in order to produce Fantasy-relevant results at the NFL level.
Metchie's landing spot on a Houston depth chart devoid of offensive talent gives him a real shot at filling a fruitful role from the get-go. How should we weigh his opportunity when comparing Metchie's Dynasty value to WR prospects with stronger long-term outlooks? And just how high should Houston's rookie catch-and-run threat be drafted in season-long leagues?
