Independence Bowl, Gasparilla Bowl parlay picks for December 23rd: Model and expert plays include potential 12-1 payout
College football bowl season continues with a doubleheader on Friday, Dec. 23 including a battle of Power 5 conference teams. The first game of the day takes place in Shreveport, LA as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (6-6) take on the Houston Cougars (7-5) in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl at 3:00 p.m. ET. Then, in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl played in Tampa, the Missouri Tigers (6-6) face off against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (7-5) at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Caesars Sportsbook lists Houston as a 7-point favorite with the total set at 57.5 for the game played at Independence Stadium. Wake Forest has been installed a 1-point favorite by Caesars with the total at 60 for the bowl played at the home of the NFL's Buccaneers, Raymond James Stadium.
Before you submit your parlays for these games, check out what the SportsLine Projection Model and SportsLine college football analyst Eric Cohen recommend for Tuesday's bowl game doubleheader.
The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Over the past six-plus years, the proprietary computer model has generated a stunning profit of almost $2,500 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. Anyone who has followed it has seen HUGE returns.
Cohen finished one game above .500 with his picks on the season, including an impressive 17-8 run over the final two weeks of the season. His SEC conference parlays generated more than 11 units of profit for bettors who followed his selections. He's continued his good run this postseason with a 7-3 start early on.
One of the bowl picks the model is high on: Houston-Louisiana Over 57.5 in the Independence Bowl. The Cougars are 9-2-1 to the Over in 2022, including a wild 140-point total against SMU in late-October. Louisiana is 6-5 to the Over as well, so points should abound in Shreveport.
Another prediction: Cohen is taking Missouri as a slight underdog in the Gasparilla Bowl. "The Tigers are 5-0 when throwing for more than 220 yards. On the season, Wake Forest gave up an average of nearly 273 yards per game through the air."
You ABSOLUTELY need to see their Friday bowl parlays before locking in any of your own.
