Golf Picks: Zurich Classic winners and DFS roster

This week's PGA tour stop in the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. While there are a few big names scheduled to attend, our Robby Kalland finds value in the middle of the field.

The PGA Tour rolls into New Orleans this week for the Zurich Classic that features a pretty solid field for a tournament in the middle of the lull between the Masters and The Players.

Jason Day, Justin Rose (the defending champion) and Rickie Fowler headline the field at TPC Louisiana -- sponsor obligations are the best -- making this an interesting event to pick. Even with a strong list of names on top, I think there are still some good values to be found further down the board.

Here are my picks and daily fantasy roster for the PGA Tour's trip to the Big Easy.

    My Foursome

Billy Horschel (18/1): Horschel is the 2013 champion of this event, so he's got good memories at this course, and he's coming in on form after a very nice showing last week at the Valero Texas Open. He's got the best pants game on Tour -- this has nothing to do with the pick, but I think it needs to be noted -- and I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up his second win in New Orleans on Sunday.

Smylie Kaufman (33/1): The LSU product returns to Louisiana this week for his first event back from the Masters. He's put together a very solid season to this point and a return to Louisiana might bring out the best in him. We just have to hope Kaufman can shake off his spring break hangover after a weekend with Rickie Fowler and company in the Bahamas.

Cameron Tringale (50/1): Tringale was runner-up here last year and has T17 and T7 finishes here in the last four years. Tringale thrives on courses set up for low scores, and the average winning score here has been 268 (-20). There are birdies to be had and very few bogeys. He can go low and has proved it at this event in the past.

Boo Weekley (80/1): Boo will randomly show up near the top of the leaderboard to remind us that he's got really good game and then fade back into the pack. He's finished in the top 10 here twice in the past and I think he'll be back up there again this week.

    My DFS Roster

Robby's Daily Fantasy Roster is based off of a standard $50,000 game on DraftKings.

Billy Horschel ($10,300): The top three guys are so expensive that Horschel feels like the best value of the big names in the field as a former champion and a guy that's in top form entering this week.

Smylie Kaufman ($9,500): Kaufman has been a really nice performer this season, including a win early in the wraparound season. I think some time off will have done him good and he'll put forward a really nice effort this week.

Patton Kizzire ($8,200): This one's a gut play. Kizzire is quietly putting together a really solid season and with the middle of the field filled with inconsistent guys, I think he could sneak away with a top 10 this week.

Boo Weekley ($7,800): He plays well here and feels like a safe bet to put forward a solid finish this week.

Seung-Yul Noh ($7,300): The 2014 champion withdrew from this event last year, but hopefully he can recapture that magic from two years ago again and give us a quality finish.

D.A. Points ($6,600): Points has not had a good year to this point, but TPC Louisiana has been kind to him in the past. He was T12 at this event last year and second alone in 2013, with a made cut in 2014. We'll see if he can find his form again here in 2016.
